I had a cop follow me why?

There could be a number of reason why this happens. You could have did something that made the officer think you were a drunk driver, like driving left of center, or maybe another common traffic violation, and he is following you to see how your driving.

You might be in an area that has had a lot of burglaries, and the officer is logging tags in the area in case another burglary happens.

Or in some cases you might have been near a known drug house that is being watched.
